The biggest problem with new houses these days is that they look like they were mass-produced.<\/h1>\n

Many, if not all, have the same color schemes which are usually beige, beige, and more beige.<\/p>\n

The only thing walking into a room that consists of a barrage of beige tells us, from the walls to the sofas and carpets, is that it is devoid of personality. Even minimalism gets very boring eventually, after all there is only so many ways you can utilize black, grey, and white. There are only so many places you could put a tiny glass coffee table and only so much joy you could get from choosing the perfect place for your single piece of modern art. Our homes are reflections of our personality and deserve to be decorated as much.<\/p>\n

There are 10 million colors that we can see so there\u2019s absolutely no reason to restrict yourself to only 3. There are many ways to decorate your home and each of us have unique personalities and interests, so our homes are the perfect opportunity for us to display that.<\/p>\n

Having said that, here are some tips on how to show personality while decorating your house.<\/h2>\n

Favourite places<\/h3>\n

Have you ever visited a place when traveling and you were captured by the aesthetics, finding it difficult to look away? It could have been the classic elements of Japanese design or the old architectural styled streets and buildings of London.<\/p>\n

Allowing that feeling of being in love with the look and feel of a place can be great inspiration for decorating your home. If for example you are infatuated by the vibe and energy from California, and the way the design style captures the lifestyle you might want one of Art Frill\u2019s posters<\/a><\/strong><\/span> which features California. Perhaps you would like to simulate the feeling of being in a cabin in the woods in Alaska, you could trade your carpet for a cowhide rug.<\/p>\n

Favorite movies\/books<\/h3>\n

Reading and watching movies is the favorite pastime of millions of people. Have you ever loved a movie so much you have watched it about 20 times? Then let that passion inspire you to use certain aspects from the movie or your favorite book to decorate your house.<\/p>\n

The movies and books you watch and read are a reflection of your interests and can reveal a lot about your personality. Perhaps you wish you were living in the world of J.R.R. Tolkien, who could forget the iconic architecture of Bag End with the round shaped doors. You could use a similar design for the headboard of your bed and hang decorative mosslike vines from the ceiling above it. It could just be leather-bound books and gallery wall from the single shot in the movie The Shape of Water, or something small like the sculpted flower lamps from A Single Man.<\/p>\n

An accomplishment is just that, something that you have worked for to achieve. This is a great way to inject personality into your home as well as bring you up when you\u2019re feeling down. This doesn\u2019t only mean that you have to display trophies, medals or diplomas. Maybe you have just started a new hobby such as pottery, you could definitely display that regardless of how imperfect the creation is. Paintings are another great example, even if you aren\u2019t Picasso, the new addition to your home will show everyone who walks in what you\u2019re passionate about. Make that entrance welcoming<\/h3>\n

The first thing that you or anyone sees when entering into your home is your entrance, and it\u2019s a great simple place to start. Nothing is more boring than a hallway devoid of decorations. The entrance to your home sets the tone for what is to be expected when moving further inside, so it should be warm and welcoming.<\/p>\n
